ACT-100-U® Steel/Urethane Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Storage Tank Specifications
Containment Solutions, Inc. is a licensee of the Steel Tank Institutes ACT-100® program. The Act-100-U® tank combines the structural integrity of a UL 58 listed steel inner tank with the corrosion resistance of a FibreThane® coating and are available as single-wall and double-wall (Type I and II for unique applications) vessels. The exterior is clad with 70 mils minimum FibreThane® which meets or exceeds all federal and state regulations. Laminate integrity is provided by a 10,000 volt spark test, which gives CSI the confidence to provide the Steel Tank Institutes limited 30-year warranty on any standard Act-100-U® tank, for internal and external corrosion and structural failure while eliminating the need for cathodic protection and periodic corrosion monitoring. Product Specifications: Section 1: Single-Wall and Double-Wall ACT-100-U® Tanks 1.0 Tanks shall be of diameter and capacity as shown on the plans. Tanks shall be of all welded construction in accordance with Underwriters Laboratories Standard 58. 1.1 Tanks shall meet all applicable federal and state codes and regulations, and shall be compatible with the products to be stored. 1.2 Tanks shall be installed in accordance with NFPA 30 and all other applicable codes and regulations, and shall be furnished with complete manufacturer's installation instructions and installation check list. 1.3 Tanks shall be FibreThane® ACT-100-U®, as manufactured by Containment Solutions, Glen Burnie, MD or approved equal able to meet all requirements as listed herein. 1.4 Fittings and accessories: 1.4.1 Each tank shall be furnished with fittings/manways as shown on plans. 1.4.2 A 2" diameter pipe shall be furnished on dual wall tanks to monitor the annular space. 1.4.3 Lifting lugs of adequate size and capacity shall be provided. 1.4.4 Striker plates shall be employed under all tank penetrations. 1.4.5 All connections into the tank shall be dielectrically isolate. 1.4.6 Unless otherwise indicated on plans, each tank should be supplied (per customers requirements) with hold-down straps and isolation pads with sizes and quantities per manufacturer's recommendation. 1.5 Exterior surfaces shall be prepared and clad with 70 mils minimum FibreThane® and shall conform to all application and factory testing requirements ACT-100-U® guidelines. 1.6 Prior to shipment, the tank shall be subjected to a 10,000 volt spark test over 100% of the exterior of the tank to assure the coating to be free from holidays. 1.7 Upon receipt of properly completed Installation Check List, manufacturer shall furnish to the buyer in writing, a thirty (30) year warranty. Warranty shall cover repair or replacement of tanks in the event of failure, through no fault of the buyer, due to internal or external corrosion or structural failure for the term of the warranty at the original point of installation, provided that the tanks are used solely for the storage of petroleum products.
